Boccaccio Homes

Hello, my name is Paul Jusseaume. I am the founder and president of Boccaccio Homes and I love building homes. The years of 2007-2010 have been challenging but we are still building homes and have taken our situation as an opportunity to deliver better value than ever before possible.

In the beginning of 2007 I called a meeting with the key subcontractors on my team. At that meeting we unanimously agreed to go back and negotiate with our suppliers, to cut our profits as low as possible to get through this challenging time, and to give extra labor and work to every project to create a value unparalleled and unmatchable. Since that time we have built over ten homes and currently have several under construction ranging from the 150’s to the 600’s. The values and the team have survived and we are making it through hard work and the understanding we will get through this together. Good homeowners deserve better than ever and we have found a way to deliver.

Over the last few years my team has built over a hundred homes and our work ethic is part of how we deliver tremendous value to our homeowners. Value and quality are the virtues of building we honor. Many will cheapen or downgrade to hit a budget. Our strategy is searching out the absolute best quality available for the money. Our subcontractors have worked with us for years with few exceptions and they are an integral part of our team. Only with their success can we succeed and make our products and value available to clients. We are successful at this in price points ranging from the low 100’s to million dollar homes.

We love changes. Don’t get me wrong we love “timely” changes, but the creativity and construction of physical beauty and aesthetics are part of why I love to build. I studied for 8 months in Rome and Europe and love to create things that exist independently and harmoniously with the surrounding environment.

Trust is a big part of how we build. I am a firm believer the builder/client relationship is critical to success.

My personal philosophy is everyone winning through the project. In order to create success for all parties it is critical fairness, trust, and honesty are elements of construction. If you can’t trust your builder you can’t trust the product. Many of my homeowners remain good friends after we are finished with construction. Most of our warranty meetings happen over dinner as friendly conversations. And one of my greatest rewards as a builder is getting to know and work with people on a level of cooperation few other kinds of work offer.

If you are thinking of building a home a good way to start is having lunch together with the person you are thinking of trusting what is probably the greatest investment of your life. And sometimes a couple beers does just as well.

My background is vegetables. After graduating from The University of Dayton in Ohio with a philosophy degree and then obtaining a master’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, I was invited by my best friend and longtime family friend Joe Metker to work on his farm in South Carolina. After several months I decided to sell produce on 161 near Tirzah road and from there started my own stand on the corner of India Hook and Celenese in Rock Hill where the Wachovia building currently stands. I would get up at 4 a.m. drive to Columbia and then sell until dark.

This is where I learned “you make your money when you buy.” This is the philosophy I use in homebuilding. We create value by purchasing value every step of the way. Subcontractors work for us for less because they trust us to pay them and work with them. We have a relationship, not simply a job. It is a team. Over five of my greatest teammates started their own companies around our homes. We love what we do and you’ll notice. We’re all in this together and great things emerge through challenges.
